Kojima ha finalmente svelato che genere sarà Death Stranding!

All'E3 2016, il direttore di fama di Metal Gear Solid, Hideo Kojima, ha rivelato Death Stranding. Il primo titolo della sua compagnia indipendente, Kojima Productions. Il primo trailer del gioco era abbastanza strano: mostrava un Norman Reedus nudo che teneva in mano un neonato scomparente in un futuro apparentemente post-apocalittico, senza gameplay o dialogo. Fino ad ora, ogni cosa che riguardava lo sviluppo di Death Stranding era avvolto nel mistero; mentre molti sono gioiosi e non vedono l'ora del gioco per il lavoro precedente di Kojima, nessuno sa esattamente come sarà. Però, in un'intervista più recente con il blog PlayStation, Kojima ha finalmente dato ai giocatori alcune informazioni basilari sul gioco, incluso il genere.

Quando chiesto che tipo di gioco sarà Death Stranding, Kojima ha detto che sarà un videogioco d'azione con maggiore concentrazione sullo sparatutto. Ha inoltre aggiunto che Death Stranding sarà open-world "con molta libera di scelta," che lascerà fare i giocatori quel che vogliono. Kojima ha inoltre suggerito un paio di volte che il gameplay di base sarebbe stato leggermente più complicato di quello che si aspetterebbero la maggior parte dei giocatori, ma non era ancora in grado di spiegarlo.

Sony: "What type of game will Death Stranding be?"

Hideo Kojima: "You can think of Death Stranding as an action game. Many people play games in the shooting genre and I want to make a game that is very intuitive for them so they can get into the experience very easily, but when they play it for a bit they will realise there is a certain new type of depth to it, something that they might not have seen before."

Sony: "Can you tell us more about the gameplay?"

Hideo Kojima: "I can't really speak on that right now but in a word, it's an action game – an open world game, with a lot of freedom. You have a lot of freedom of choice to do what you want to do and you can get in vehicles and so on. If you are a fighter, there's plenty of opportunity for that. If you're not that type of player, there are other ways to play this game. I can't really say much more, but it's an open-world, action game that's very intuitive to play. Once you get into the world and start to explore more, we're hoping there's something there you've never seen before."

Kojima ha, però, parlato un po' di più sul combattimento nel gioco, spiegando le basi della modalità di gameplay meglio conosciuta come "The Strands," che permetterà ai giocatori di formare squadre e abbattere nemici formidabili con l'aiuto dei compagni.

Sony: "We have heard about the 'Strands' concept that is being introduced for this game, what does this mean, exactly?"

Kojima: "Concerning the 'Strands', this is my 31st year in the games industry and I've been deep in action games across that time. In action games, generally, the player has a gun and plays against enemies in a single player environment – or they take it online and play against other players in a competitive environment. They join in together with guns – [laughs] it's almost always with guns – to take down a stronger opponent. In this game you can do that but I wanted to go a little deeper beyond that with something that doesn't focus on a weapon like a gun and that's what has a connection to the strand concept."

Complessivamente, anche se ulteriori informazioni di Death Stranding rimarranno sempre un segreto per un bel po' di tempo, è bello avere un'idea generale di come sarà il gioco. Il fatto che il gioco sarà uno sparatutto non sarà la sorpresa di nessuno, ma sarà interessante vedere come Hideo Kojima innoverà il genere con il suo titolo.
