La Valve ha rilasciato la patch al gameplay 6.85, per bilanciare al meglio Dota 2 prima degli Frankfurt Major. I cambiamenti apportati sono abbastanza minimali e decisamente pochi eroi hanno ricevuto nerf o buff sostanziali. Le modifiche più importanti riguardano la modifica della meccanica del Purge, che d'ora in poi non darà più danno bonus alle unità evocate (e non instaucciderà più i Golem di Warlock o le illusioni), i creep d'assedio ora possiedono una resistenza magica pari all'80% e perdono la loro immunità alle abilità.

Tra gli eroi nerfati possiamo notare Techies, che riceve un netto dimezzamento (in danno, tempi di ricarica e molto altro) alle mine rosse in cambio della rimozione dei limiti sul massimo di mine piazzabili nerfato anche Gyrocopter la cui ultimate non arreca più danno alle unità immuni alla magia. Sono stati buffati leggermente anche alcuni eroi meno pickati come TerrorBlade (temporaneamente bannato dalle partite in Capitain Mode), Warlock (i cui golem non possono più essere dissolti tramite purga) e Tiny.

In sostanza, per quanto riguarda gli eroi, Icefrog ha solo applicato modifiche per influenzare quali eroi verranno pickati nella scena competitiva per fare una sorta di rinfrescata al meta attuale, senza stravolgerlo più di tanto.
Gli oggetti hanno invece subito interessanti modifiche come il costo delle pergamene di teletrasporto, che è stato ulteriormente diminuito, che è ora pari a 70 unità di oro, la lama della diffusione non ha più tempi di attesa tra un uso e l'altro per compensare il nerf alla Purga, l'Elmo del dominatore garantisce ora una vita minima all'unità controllata pari a 1400 hp. Anche qui sono stati leggermente nerfati gli oggetti più utilizzati, come, per esempio, i Phase boot, BloodStone, Solar Crest e Glimmer Cape, per favorirne altri meno presenti nelle build come il Mjolnir, Splendore e Loto Gemmato.

Alla patch al gameplay è stata anche allegata unapiccola patch generica per ottimizzare la nuova interfaccia di gioco, ottimizzando la posizione dei pannelli ed introducendo una chat geolocalizzata che vi metterà in contatto con i giocatori a voi vicini.

Batrider

    Flamebreak damage over time reduced from 50 per second to 25/30/35/40
    Flamebreak damage duration increased from 1/2/3/4 to 3/4/5/6
    Added Aghanim's Scepter upgrade: Flaming Lasso grabs its target, as well as the target's nearest allied hero within 400 range. The secondary target is tethered to the first. Also causes Lasso to deal 100 damage per second.



Bloodseeker

    Thirst scaling changed from 100%->25% to 75%->25%
    Bloodrage heal reduced from 25% to 19/21/23/25%



Bounty Hunter

    Track now provides vision only of the target rather than the area around it
    Track allied bonus gold reduced from 50/100/150 to 40/80/120



Brewmaster

    Primal Split Storm's Dispel Magic area of effect increased from 200 to 600
    Primal Split Storm's Dispel Magic cooldown reduced from 8 to 6 seconds
    Primal Split Earth's Hurl Boulder cooldown reduced from 7 to 5 seconds



Bristleback

    Bristleback passive Quill Spray damage threshold reduced from 250 to 230

    Chaos Strike now lowers the target's armor by 5 for 8 seconds whenever it crits [?]
